FAQ

Questions? We've got answers.

Unlike Nextdoor or Facebook groups where skill-swaps get buried in feeds, TradeBlock is built specifically for trading. We match you with neighbors based on what you offer and need, handle the back-and-forth of arranging fair trades, and build trust through verified reviews. No more posting 'anyone know a good handyman?' and hoping for the best - we show you exactly who nearby can help and what they need in return.
Yes! TradeBlock is 100% free to use. We believe in building community, not charging for it. There are no hidden fees, no premium tiers, and no transaction costs. You trade skills directly with your neighbors.
You'd be surprised what people need. We've seen demand for everything from dog walking to spreadsheet help to someone who can assemble IKEA furniture. If you can do something - anything - there's probably a neighbor who'd rather trade for it than pay a stranger or do it themselves.
Every user has a reputation score based on reviews from past trades. You can see ratings before agreeing to any trade. If something goes wrong, you can leave an honest review to help others. We're also building dispute resolution features for launch.
We use a multi-layer trust system: email verification, optional ID verification, reputation scores from completed trades, and reviews from other users. You can see someone's full trade history before connecting with them.
Almost anything! Web design, tutoring, lawn care, car repair, photography, cooking lessons, music lessons, home repairs, tax help, pet sitting - if you can do it, you can trade it. We have categories for Technology, Home Services, Education, Creative, Health & Wellness, and more.
Skills are rated by level (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced) which affects the time exchange. For example, Sarah traded 2 hours of web design ($150 value) for 3 guitar lessons ($180 value) - both walked away feeling like they got a great deal. The system helps balance specialized skills with everyday help so trades feel fair to everyone.
You don't need to be an expert. Can you mow a lawn? Walk a dog? Help someone move boxes? Babysit for an evening? Watch a pet while someone's on vacation? Basic skills are in high demand - and they're often exactly what your neighbors need most.
We're launching in Provo, Utah first to build a strong local community. Once we've proven the model works, we plan to expand to other cities. Join the waitlist to be first to know when we come to your area!
When you propose a trade, you and your neighbor agree on the hours upfront based on skill levels. After the trade, both parties confirm completion in the app. Your trade history and hours exchanged are tracked on your profile, building your reputation over time. If there's ever a disagreement, our review system helps resolve it fairly.
Yes, your exact address is never shown. Neighbors only see your general area (like '0.5 miles away') until you choose to share more details when arranging a trade. You control what information you share and when. We take privacy seriously - your data is never sold, and location info is only used to match you with nearby neighbors.
